「こんぴらさん」の愛称で親しまれる金刀比羅宮（ことひらぐう）がある香川県の琴平町。江戸時代から参拝者が絶えないこの地は、長い石段を登ることで知られ、785段の本宮、さらに1368段の奥社までの道のりは自然と歴史を感じる道。
こんぴら温泉郷では、歴史ある旅館やモダンな宿泊施設が点在し、参拝の後に温泉で癒やされるのも楽しみのひとつです。また、周辺には「旧金毘羅大芝居（こんぴら歌舞伎）」で知られる日本最古の現存歌舞伎劇場や、地元のうどん屋さんが並ぶ「うどんの町」としての魅力も満載。少し足を伸ばせば、丸亀城や瀬戸内海の絶景が広がる天空の鳥居「高屋神社」などもあり、香川の自然と歴史、文化を堪能できます。県外からのご参加も大歓迎！

Kotohira-cho, Kagawa Prefecture, is home to Kotohira Shrine, nicknamed “Kompira-san. The area, which has been visited by worshippers since the Edo period, is known for its long stone steps that lead up to the main shrine (785 steps) and the inner shrine (1,368 steps), a path that is steeped in nature and history.
In Kompira Hot Spring Village, historic inns and modern lodging facilities are scattered throughout the area, and after visiting the shrine, visitors can look forward to being healed in a hot spring bath. Also in the vicinity is the oldest existing kabuki theater in Japan, known for the “Old Kompira Great Theatre (Kompira Kabuki),” as well as the town of “udon” with its many local udon noodle shops. A short distance away, Marugame Castle and Takaya Shrine, a torii in the sky with a spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea, are also available for visitors to enjoy Kagawa's nature, history, and culture.
